Part of responsible pet ownership includes making the decision to spay
and neuter our pets. In addition to controlling the unwanted pet population,
this procedure benefits the long-term health of cats and dogs. Most pet
care-givers don't realize that their choice to spay or neuter their pet
is a choice for preventive healthcare.
Your Clients will learn about: The benefits of spaying and neutering
for dogs and cats as well as some information about anesthesia, the actual
surgical procedures and the use of pain management. Mention will also
be made of the recommendation for pre-anesthetic bloodwork and the benefit
of intravenous fluids during surgery.
October - December 2008
Senior pets generally require a higher frequency of wellness testing. Although not all pet owners are currently caring for a senior pet, it is important for them to understand the unique needs of senior pets. By presenting this information to all pet owners, the need for more frequent testing is understood when the time comes.
Your Clients will learn about: Special care for senior pets, including; more frequent laboratory testing and physical exams, common illnesses and the importance of early detection, special foods, and physical care needs such as exercise.
January - March 2009
The importance of dental care will be highlighted including; homecare,
dental product selection, and dental exams, extractions and cleanings.
Your Clients will learn about: The different types of dental conditions,
mainly gum disease, and their effect on health and attitude of pets. As
well as what goes into pet dental care; pre-anesthetic testing, IV fluids,
monitoring, and recovery.
April - June 2009
Clients are aware of heartworm disease. But, they still do need to be
reminded to book their visit for testing and consistent administration
of parasite control products.
Your Clients will learn about: Their role in preventive parasite control
and how you consider local epidemiologic factors and individual circumstances
when recommending parasite testing and control. The most common types
of parasites (including fleas), and zoonotic potential will also be illustrated.
